In 2019 I retired from professional working life to set up a workshop with an aim to provide a service for the setup, restoration and repair of acoustic, stringed instruments. 

Having had no previous experience, I wanted to acquire specific skills and knowledge in the art of instrument making. To this end I completed a three-month course at the "Totnes School of Guitar Building".

Here I built an acoustic guitar using mainly hand tools with traditional and modern guitar building techniques.

Through this experience I gained a working knowledge of the sound technology and engineering that underpins the construction of a finely crafted acoustic instrument.
